Location - Cleveland Police Headquarters (due to move to Middlesbrough Police Station)
Salary - P04 (33,597 - £36,570)
Hours - Full Time (37 hours per week)
Contract - Permanent
Applications are invited for 2 positions of Lawyer (Advocate) within Legal Services based at Cleveland Police Headquarters initially but due to move to Middlesbrough Police Station
Principal Duties and responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in house within the Cleveland Police Legal Services Legal Team and also within the wider collaborated Evolve Legal Services with Cleveland, Durham and North Yorkshire Police Forces. We are looking for 2 suitably qualified solicitor advocates or barristers. One role requires particular experience of Employment law and complex cases the other in dealing with Operation Policing matters. You will work as part of a team providing professional legal advice as required on legal matters.
To be successful at this role you must have proven experience of Employment law or the law relating to Operational Policing issues, for example firearms and shotgun certificate revocations/refusals/appeals, applications for civil orders.
Candidates who are about to start, or are part way through, obtaining Higher Rights will be considered.
The role will require flexibility to provide assistance in other areas of police law. Due to the collaboration you will be required to work in the Cleveland, Durham and North Yorkshire Police areas as and when the need arises. Flexibility to travel between forces is essential. Job Share will be considered.
Any candidate who is successful but not offered a role immediately will be placed on a reserve list for 6 months.
